The Great Scourge

The Great Sauzilian Scourge was a climactic campaign launched by the Sauzile resulting from building tensions between their race and Aaztrieos, the human military nation in the neighboring territory. A number of sources fueled this rampage. In general, the humans hold a discriminatory view of the Sauzile for their physical appearance and abominable existence. Many Sauzilian raids on human settlements didn’t help the situation, nor did the humans’ attempts to push back the Saulize into their land in an effort to overtake and claim the crags. The Sauzilian’s goal was to mount an attack on the capital, hoping the rest of the territory would crumble away into disorder.

Though the Sauzile were formidable, adamant, and clever opponents, they stood little chance against Aaztrieos’ elite soldiers, who outnumbered them 2 to 1. The conflict took place over the course of ten days, and even though the humans ultimately won the battle and managed to push the Sauzile back to the crags, the fight still left a tremendous impact on the humans in terms of deaths and the destruction of settlements. The Sauzilian did not make it all the way to the capital, covering almost half the distance, though regardless they managed to blaze a sizeable path of chaos. Following the battle, the wall dividing the two territories received additional fortifications and resources by the humans to ensure something like this would not happen again.

Creation of the Human Race

With the great power of the deities all but diminished, the fall of their “great plans” and the perfect world they wished to create was almost assured. In one final attempt to return to a world of balance and progress, the deities created their final greatest race, humanity. It would be with humanity that all their hopes for a greater future would ride.

The human history begins with the ending of the old age. In the final months of 8114 OA, the remaining deities mortal and spirit began to gather in a faraway place of their creation known as “The Lost Land”. They had created this place as a cradle for their older creations of the past, and now it would see their final creation and the deities undoing. Every Deity remaining gathered at this momentous event to decide the future for not just their race, but for every race. It was determined that without a new, stronger balance in their world, it would fall to ruin in the hands of the greater races. So the decision was made to create humanity. Roughly based on the images of all races, humans were determined to be given the will of deities, the adaptivity and cleverness of dragons, the power and knowledge of elves and finally the great crafting power of the dwarves. It was hoped that this would be their greatest creation. But to do this, it would require one great, final sacrifice.

The creation of a new race requires immense power, an amount of power that now far exceeded the limited expandable power of the deities. More drastic action was required, and it would mean the sacrifice of almost the entirety of the deity race. Only those unable to contribute their essence, the mortal deities, could be spared. They would channel the magic, consuming the raw energy of their brethren to create the human race. So the ritual began, each Deity began sacrificing their essence, their very life force to power the spell. Mortal Deities channeled the magic, powering the raw energy into one great final act. And thus out of blinding light and energy, the human race emerged upon “The Lost Land”...

The Polar Blast

The dragons and deities fought many battles. Among these were some that altered the very nature of the world. In one such battle, the dragons and deities were locked in combat in what is now Northern Nazadan. During the fight, a powerful Dragon tapped into the power of an ancient Essence stone. Combining it with the power generated from surrounding Deities, he unleashed a massive explosion which obliterated the surrounding landscape with frost, snow, ice, and a blistering cold climate. This new polar region covered the upper area of Nazadan.

From this event also rose a new species. Formerly living in this region was a species of bear. Following the icy explosion was a magic-based radiation of sorts, which began to affect the bears. After some time of being exposed to the fallout, they began to mutate, eventually transforming into a bipedal yeti, a semi-sentient race with a low degree of intelligence. This race doesn’t often interact with other races, at least not civilly, and makes use of fairly basic tools such as clubs, spears, and carved ice spikes.

This polar region is special in that the snow and ice within it will not melt, nor will the cold weather dissipate, even though this land was not cold originally. Also, any “cold material” (snow or ice) taken outside of this polar zone will melt eventually, but not nearly as quickly as regular “cold material”. This is due to the magical properties contained within the elements of this region.
